CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 2015--
Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated (CCBCC) opened a new chapter in
its 113-year history in Charlotte today as the company celebrated the
grand opening of its new Customer Care Center.
North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory joined Coca-Cola officials, civic
and community leaders and key customers at an open house and
ribbon-cutting ceremony at the company’s new 71,280 square foot Customer
Care Center located on West W.T. Harris Boulevard in Northeast Charlotte.
The spacious facility features quiet rooms where employees can unwind,
color-coded work stations, and desks that easily convert from a
traditional seated position to a standing desk in seconds. There are
numerous casual meeting and break out pods throughout the facility to
encourage a collaborative work environment. Employees can recharge in
the large break room that features a pool table, gaming station,
multiple televisions and a canteen stocked with grab-and-go lunch
options, snacks, and of course, plenty of hydration choices.
“We are very excited about moving our Customer Care Center and expanding
our operations in Charlotte,” said Coca-Cola Consolidated Chairman & CEO
Frank Harrison. “This is a great, vibrant city with a long Coca-Cola
history. We look forward to serving our customers and consumers from
this new, state-of-the-art facility.”
Charlotte-based Coca-Cola Consolidated, the nation’s largest independent
Coca-Cola bottler, moved into the facility at the end of October. The
Customer Care Center handles all incoming and outgoing customer calls –
totaling 2.2 million calls annually. The company has renovated a
once-vacant warehouse and created office space with a total investment
of more than $8 million.
“This grand opening is reflective of CCBCC’s dedication to serving
Charlotte and North Carolina,” Governor Pat McCrory said. “CCBCC is not
only a good employer, it is a good corporate citizen that cares about
the people it serves.”
“Charlotte is fortunate to have Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated
as one of its strongest corporate citizens. The company has a long and
deep history in Charlotte, employing over a thousand people and
contributing to the community on numerous fronts,” said Bob Morgan,
president and CEO of the Charlotte Chamber. “This new facility
underscores their strong commitment to Charlotte.”
Of the 2,000 Charlotte-based employees, 183 employees currently work at
the Customer Care Center. Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated
anticipates that the new facility will have a total of 300 employees.
Coca-Cola Consolidated traces its history back to April of 1902 when
Charlotte Coca-Cola Bottling Company opened as North Carolina’s first
bottling plant.
“Charlotte has played a significant role in the history of Coca-Cola
Consolidated and was one of the first cities in the world to bottle and
sell this great brand,” Harrison said. A fourth-generation bottler
himself, Harrison’s family roots in the business started with his
great-grandfather, J.B. Harrison, who launched Coca-Cola in Greensboro,
NC in 1902. Over the last century Coca-Cola Consolidated has expanded to
become the largest independent Coca-Cola bottler in the United States.
Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated (CCBCC) is the nation's largest
independent Coca-Cola bottler. The Company operates primarily in the
Southeast, with corporate offices located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
CCBCC stock is traded on the NASDAQ exchange under the symbol COKE.
