On Sunday evening, CCBCC reached out the South Carolina division of the
American Red Cross. From there, a plan was set in motion to coordinate
delivery of more than 43,000 bottles of Dasani to the Red Cross
warehouse on Clemson Road. Additional deliveries were made to NewSpring
Church, USC Russell House, Richland Memorial Hospital, Palmetto Baptist
and Parkridge Hospital on Monday.
“The damage is devastating. I have never seen anything like it. Once the
City of Columbia released a boil water advisory and many folks did not
have access to water at all, we knew water was going to be a huge
problem,” says Mark Moore, South Carolina market unit vice president,
“We are doing what we can to get Dasani supplied to the community as
quickly as possible.”
In Columbia, as many as 40,000 homes lack drinking water, and a boil
water advisory is in place for the remaining 375,000 customers.
Senior VP of Corporate Affairs, Lauren Steele, notes the efforts by the
local team, saying, “At Coca-Cola Consolidated our Company Purpose is to
‘Honor God in all We Do’. In times of natural disasters we are blessed
to have so many employees going above and beyond the norm to pursue that
Purpose. As a company, we want to do what we can to help the South
Carolina community.”
In total, CCBCC delivered more than 107,520 bottles of Dasani to aid the
emergency efforts in Columbia on Monday. When the Columbia Coca-Cola
branch ran low on its Dasani supply, CCBCC employees coordinated with
the Charlotte branch to make emergency deliveries. An additional
donation of 26,880 bottles to the South Carolina Emergency Management
Division was made on Tuesday.
